Workshop Notes

“I think it’s good to be in an all girls group because us girls can communicate with each other easier than if we to try to talk to the guys. Guitar is a very important skill in my life because it is something I will have a knowledge of for the rest of my life.”
Jessica, Year 7, Cheltenham Secondary College, VIC
“On behalf of the students from Kilburn Primary School we would like to thank you very much for these guitars you have given us. It means a lot because we love playing music with our great teacher, Mr. B. We have learnt a lot from him over the past years. He has been patient and caring and not too stressed! We will cherish these guitars because it will give us our own guitars to play and enjoy at home so we can entertain our friends and family. It is such an honour to receive such a precious gift from you. We will all be grateful and we will look after them so we can enjoy them for a long time. Thanks very, very much from all the guitar students.”
Hayden and Alanah, year 7.
“On behalf of the guitar students of Gepps Cross Primary School I would like to thank the Music Council of Australia for donating six guitars at the school. These new guitars will allow the school to expand its guitar program so that more students will be able to take up the guitar. Thank you so much.”
Regan, year 7.
Lothar Bojemski is one of the participating teachers in South Australia. Here’s what he says about some of his recipient students: All the students receiving guitars under the Guitars for Schools program are such worthy recipients.
There’s Ellen Jurgens: a very creative and ‘up front’ type of student with a strong commitment to art and music. I must say that every student within that particular group has his or her own unique way of making a contribution to the group. There is Alanah Clark: quietly confident, rarely misses a lesson. Hayden Fletcher: a very talented all-rounder sportsperson with leadership qualities which are reflected in his music making (provided he does his practice). Shana Curtis: the anticipation of having her own guitar has fuelled her enthusiasm in a big way. Janine Monotilla and Cory Petkoff: two very talented young musicians, very serious and focused, always wanting to learn something new.
